Spirals

Spirals

We are spirals
floating freely
like dust motes
in sunbeams.We are spirals

Breezes flow
surround
the spirals
spinning
some fast,
some slow.

Some sparkle
some drift
out of view.
We are at once
new
and old.

remade
remade

We are all spirals
some drift
some spin

together
yet apart.
some drift,
some spin.

No rest for the eternally distracted...

What I've discovered at the ripe old age of 65 is that the 'been there done that' mentality has ruled my entire life without me even realizing it.  Example:  I could drop a perfectly good job/behavior/art/husband (not so much), etc, (you get the picture), in favor of  the next new tangent.
Interestingly this mindset morphed as I became aware of the brain spasm that occurs just before I switch gears and learn how to change the oil in my car(this is only an example, I would never change the oil in my car).
And now comes the stealth response. I kid you not; I haven't changed one bit except now after the spasm occurs, I rationalize it by forgiving myself for dropping what I'm doing to go do something else. And that masks the truth (stealth quality)....the truth being I haven't learned anything in 65 years, I'm still hopping from one foot to the other, but now I'm nicer to myself when I realize that I've done it again.

No rest for the eternally distracted.

this is a personal observation in regard to water versus rock: I think of myself as a multi colored, multi surfaced rock tumbling and bouncing through the watery stream of life. Sometimes I get lodged up against a larger rock, a stuck in place rock, but the flow of the water dislodges me and I once again roll with the current. The sound of the stream is what is attractive to me; the tinkling, laughing sound of freedom, freedom to move on, freedom to stay in place, freedom to temporarily float in a still pool, and then freedom to catch that current and move on to whatever comes next.

New Born

it's true that there will come a day when you'll wake up from a deep, relaxing sleep and realize that 'today is the first day of the rest of your life'. I know that sounds like an antique cliche, but it happened to me today. it made me laugh. a true, joyful, giggly laugh.
I am comfortable in my skin. Yes, I am no longer young...yes, I am no longer sleekly beautiful...yes, my thoughts have shifted to a brand new level of consciousness. Am I glad about these changes? Yes and no. I'm a bit fearful that the years left to me are visible and numbered. But, no one could ever acuse me of being a pessimist. I'm a joyful woman. I raise my hands to my own internal keyboard and compose, and create, and spin, and weave a bounty of beautiful eye candy. My notes are all the colors of the rainbow, all the notes in the Universe, all the textures of our life. Comfortable in my skin.
